LOGIN Conference China Panel Reviewed on Twitter

May 25, 2009 – 1:16 am

About two weeks ago, I spoke at the LOGIN Conference in Seattle on the panel about China. It was a very productive and enjoyable conference. I highly recommend it to others working in the industry and would like to thank the organizers for inviting us. Also, our panel was well-attended and received, so I was planning on writing a follow-up blog post about it. But I’m somewhat behind schedule since I’m also booked to attend E3 next week and speak about the “Future of Philanthropy in Virtual Worlds” at the State of Play conference next month.

So instead, I’ll hop on the bandwagon and let Twitter summarize our panel instead. Here’s a livestream of selected tweets during the conference when our panel was in session. The tweets should be pretty self-explanatory, but if you need context for the quotes, let me know and I’ll add some commentary later.

  • Couchange Organizerscouchange Just realized an hour before our #LOGIN China panel that we should probably have some projector visuals. Maybe we’ll just use a title slide.
  • Ren ReynoldsRenZephyr have coffee, at #login session on China companies and the US
  • Ren ReynoldsRenZephyr #login Chinese companies working in the US are neither a huge injection of cash or a cultural take over
  • deantakdeantak panel on chinese games is very interesting at login. they agree that the chinese are making good money, but aren’t yet showering it on U.S.
  • Ren ReynoldsRenZephyr #login free-to-play has a bad rep in the US, SOE ‘borrows’ from many Asian models
  • Ren ReynoldsRenZephyr #login look also for non hard core gamers like soccer moms (erm, think this panel needs to meet more soccer moms)
  • Ren ReynoldsRenZephyr #login panel is self organizing due to random curve balls coming our way (nothing to do with the conf organizers btw)
  • Ren ReynoldsRenZephyr #login first Danniel James reference i’ve heard of the day
  • Couchange Organizerscouchange #LOGIN China panel, I’m making a note here, huge success. We don’t need no stinkin’ slides. Good sign when people delay dinner to listen :)
