The Creative Marathon Rocked
October 1, 2007 – 11:29 amAs you might have read elsewhere already, the Creative Marathon event this past weekend was a smashing success. Everyone had tons of fun and we successfully raised money for the Creative Treehouse by selling artwork created during the 24 hour marathon.
I helped out Friday and Saturday night by liveblogging and twittering the event. I also bought a piece of art by my friend, Shawn Smith (drummer on the right in above picture). Unfortunately, due to my other commitments and some bad luck, I was unable to finish my artwork during the event. I was able to get some some audio editing done during the marathon, but I ended up submitting my remixed A Capella song to This American Life Sunday night, just before the deadline.
Overall, I was very impressed by Pittsburgh’s local artists, both amateur and professional alike. In fact, I’m thinking about commissioning a local artist to do some custom art for this blog. If you or anyone you know is interested, please leave a comment or email me. Bonus points if the artist is willing to donate part of their commission a local charity and/or release their work under Creative Commons.

I was also very impressed. I wish I could have made the whole event, as what I did see was wonderful.
