I enjoy attending and supporting local events, especially tech-oriented or socially-conscious ones. However, I often find that such local events have poor or inconsistent attendance. When I ask some of my tech-oriented, socially-conscious acquaintances why they don't try to attend these events too, I often get the following two excuses:
